Archivematica
A comprehensive digital preservation system that is free and open source.  Archivematica uses METS, PREMIS, Dublin Core and other best practice metadata standards. Archivematica implements media type preservation plans based on an analysis of the significant characteristics of file formats.

InterPARES Project: International Research on Permanent Authentic Records in Electronic Systems
InterPARES aims to develop the knowledge essential to the long-term preservation of authentic records created and/or maintained in digital form and providing the basis for standards, policies, strategies and plans of action capable of ensuring the longevity of such material.

planets: Preservation and long-term access through networked services
Planets is a four-year project co-funded by the European Union under the Sixth Framework Programme to address core digital preservation challenges. The website makes available project documentation and deliverables as Planets progresses so that these can be shared with the libraries, archives and digital preservation community.

PADI: Preserving Access to Digital Information (National Library of Australia)
The National Library of Australia’s PADI initiative aims to provide mechanisms that will help to ensure that information in digital form is managed with appropriate consideration for preservation and future access. The PADI web site is a subject gateway to digital preservation resources.

Survey of Digital Preservation Practices in Canada, Kathleen Shearer, March 2009 (Library and Archives Canada)
In 2008, Library and Archives Canada commissioned a survey on digital preservation practices in Canada in order to gain a clearer understanding of the current state. The intent was to determine existing practices and resources for digital preservation as well as to identify gaps and challenges. This report presents the results of this survey.

Sustainable Economics for a Digital Planet: Ensuring Long-Term Access to Digital Information, February 2010 (Final Report of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Sustainable Digital Preservation and Access)
The Blue Ribbon Task for on Sustainable Digital Preservation and Access investigates issues regarding digital preservation from an economic perspective,  identifies problems intrinsic to all preserved digital materials, and proposes actions that stakeholders can take to meet these challenges to sustainability.
