BC History Digitization Program (Irving K. Barber Learning Centre)
The BC History Digitization Program promotes increased access to British Columbia’s historical resources by providing matching funds to undertake digitization projects that will result in free online access to unique BC historical material.

Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Funding Opportunities
The Program seeks to increase opportunities, through festivals and other events and activities, for local artists and artisans to be involved in their community, and for local groups to commemorate their local history and heritage. Eligible events and activities must be local, open and accessible to the public and strongly encourage and promote the participation of everyone in your community.

Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (Department of Canadian Heritage)
The CCSF supports the improvement, renovation and construction of arts and heritage facilities, and the acquisition of specialized equipment as well as conducting feasibility studies. Non-profit arts and heritage organizations incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act or under corresponding provincial or territorial legislation. Provincial/territorial governments, municipal or regional governments, and their agencies, as well as First Nations and Inuit equivalent governments, are also eligible.

Canadian Culture Online Funding Programs – Partnerships Fund, Gateway Fund, Canada New Media Fund
The Canadian Culture Online funding programs provide meaningful and seamless access to content that helps deepen an understanding of Canada and its rich diversity. See specific program pages for application and eligibility information.

Community Initiatives Program (Alberta Lottery Fund)
The Community Initiatives Program will support project-based initiatives in areas such as community services, seniors’ services, libraries, arts and culture, sports, education, health and recreation.

Direct Access Community Gaming Grants (Ministry of Housing and Social Development)
This program provides funding to Non-profit organizations providing programs or services of direct benefit to the broader community.

EMC Heritage Trust Project
The EMC Heritage Trust Project recognizes and supports digital stewardship of the world’s information heritage in local communities. Using the same criteria for excellence that guide the EMC Information Heritage Initiative, EMC seeks people and projects that practice and inspire stewardship locally.

Endangered Archives Programme (The British Library)
The EAP’s aim is to contribute to the preservation of archival material that is in danger of destruction, neglect or physical deterioration world-wide. Grants are awarded to applicants for these purposes on an annual recurring basis.

HBC History Foundation
The Hudson’s Bay Company History Foundation (HbcHF) is a private charitable foundation controlled by Hudson’s Bay Company. Hbc established the Foundation to advance knowledge of, and interest in, Hbc’s role in Canadian history through financial assistance to qualified recipients.

Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation
The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation has provided funding to the cultural and creative arts communities of British Columbia since its inception in 1955. Eligible disciplines include: the visual arts, theatre, music, dance, festivals, heritage organizations, community arts councils, arts education, and libraries, particularly in smaller communities.

Museums Assistance Program
The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) provides funding to Canadian museums and related institutions for projects that support federal objectives for museums to ensure that Canadians have access to and experience Canada’s diverse cultural heritage.

National Archival Development Program – NADP (Canadian Council of Archives)
The National Archival Development Program provides contribution funding for archival projects to archival institutions, organizations, and provincial and territorial archival councils.

Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation – Heritage Research Grant Program, Heritage Conservation Grant Program, Heritage Promotion and Education Grant Programs, Heritage Publications Grant Program, and Special Heritage Projects Grant Program
Established as a major support agency for heritage conservation and development, the Heritage Foundations’ principal mandate since its inception has been to provide financial support to heritage projects at the provincial and community level that seek to conserve, research, interpret, develop and promote Saskatchewan’s diverse heritage resources.  See specific grant pages for application and eligibility information.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Funding Opportunities
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is the federal agency that promotes and supports university-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences. Through its programs and policies, SSHRC enables the highest levels of research excellence in Canada, and facilitates knowledge-sharing and collaboration across research disciplines, universities and all sectors of society.

Terry Reksten Memorial Fund (BC Archives)
The Fund annually offers an award of $1,000 to a community archives in British Columbia to assist in the work of acquiring, preserving, indexing or disseminating information on the archival documentary heritage of British Columbia in the broadest sense of the word. The award is administered by the Friends of the British Columbia Archives.

THEN/HiER Funding Programs
THEN/HiER is the first pan-Canadian organization devoted to promoting—and improving—history teaching and learning by bringing together the multiple and varied constituencies involved in history education: academic historians; public historians in museums, archives and historic sites; practising teachers; researchers based in faculties of education; and curriculum policy makers.

Young Canada Works – YCW (Canadian Council of Archives)
As a delivery organization for the archival community, the Canadian Council of Archives administers the Young Canada Works program from the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program offers students and young graduates the chance to acquire experience in their chosen field. This program applies to any archival institution whether or not they are a member of their provincial/territorial council.
